The social service is provided by the Emantes’ social worker. People are referred to Emantes’ social service via the Emantes’ WhatsApp support line. Emantes’ social service initially carries out an assessment, to get to know the people we support (PWS), inform them about the services Emantes provide and other services available to them and co-design a tailored made plan for the PWS needs.
During the assessment or afterwards the PWS is internally referred to other Emantes’ services or externally referred to other organisations, according to the expressed needs. If needed the social worker will offer follow up sessions, e. g. for information/ orientation, communication/ mediation, administrative process (tax details and application to the asylum service), accompaniment and assistance with medical and administrative matters and appointments.
The role of the social worker is framed by a multidisciplinary team of professionals all working for the same purpose, aiming at a holistic approach, where the persons supported have an active role.
For every person assisted, a personal and ideally long-term plan is created,
in collaboration with the beneficiary.

One of the aspirations of Emantes is to offer jobs to LGBTQIA+ refugees, asylum seekers and migrants, based on their skills and abilities, contributing to their further integration, and responding to the exclusion they experience in the labor market due to their sexual orientation, gender expression and/or gender identity.

Emántes means “we” in “kaliarda”, the first Greek lgbtqia community slang which has always been marginalized.
“We” is a response to what the “others” always symbolize and a bet for “us, the others” to be heard.
